The Farm

Tihoi, above the western bays

The farm sits on the volcanic plateau at Tihoi, where the paddocks roll down toward the western bays of Lake Taupō. Cool nights, mineral soils, and deep summer grass — country that was always going to grow remarkable milk.

Guthrie is two brothers: one on the farm, one across the ditch. Sean milks the ewes and — as a dairy process engineer by trade — obsesses over every degree and every minute between milking shed and churn. The name comes from Guthrie, the country near Horohoro where we grew up on our parents' farm. Two family places, one tub.
